Deuteronomy 6:5–7

  1. You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might.
  2. And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart.
  3. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk.

Joshua 4 – After crossing the Jordan

  1. And he said to the people of Israel, “When your children ask their fathers in times to come, ‘What do these stones mean?’
  2. then you shall let your children know, ‘Israel passed over this Jordan on dry ground.’
  3. For the LORD your God dried up the waters of the Jordan for you until you passed over, as the LORD your God did to the Red Sea, which he dried up for us until we passed over,
  4. so that all the peoples of the earth may know that the hand of the LORD is mighty, that you may fear the LORD your God forever.”

Mark 9

  1. And they came to Capernaum. And when he was in the house he asked them, “What were you discussing on the way?”
  2. But they kept silent, for on the way they had argued with one another about who was the greatest.
  3. And he sat down and called the twelve. And he said to them, “If anyone would be first, he must be last of all and servant of all.”

Matthew 18

  1. And calling to him a child, he put him in the midst of them
  2. and said, “Truly, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.
  3. Whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.

Mark 9

  1. …and taking him in his arms, he said to them,
  2. “Whoever receives one such child in my name receives me, and whoever receives me, receives not me but him who sent me.”

Mark 10

  1. And they were bringing children to him that he might touch them, and the disciples rebuked them.
  2. But when Jesus saw it, he was indignant and said to them, “Let the children come to me; do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God.
  3. Truly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child shall not enter it.”
  4. And he took them in his arms and blessed them, laying his hands on them.

What is it that Jesus loves about children

  • They know they can’t make it by themselves
  • Not proud and self-sufficient
  • They simply trust and depend
