v.15 For this reason…
is based on the previous verses:
- even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world,…
- he predestined us for adoption…
- In him we have… forgiveness
- …sealed with the promised Holy Spirit
- “For this reason I pray…”
v.17 may give you the Spirit
- That the Father of glory and God of our Lord Jesus Christ may give you the Spirit
- Of wisdom and revelation
- In the knowledge of him
- “Those that know their God shall be strong and do exploits” (Dan 11:32).
v.18–19 Having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know
- The hope of his calling
- The wealth of his glorious inheritance in the saints
- The immeasurable greatness of his power
v.20–23 The manifestation of God’s power
- that he worked in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly places,
- far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and above every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the one to come.
- And he put all things under his feet and gave him as head over all things to the church,
- which is his body, the fullness of him who fills all in all.
Two Conclusions
- How important it is to pray
- Even five minutes in prayer is an investment in eternity
- The knowledge of God releases the purposes of God
- It’s where you step into the plan God has for your life
