Darkened understanding or learning Christ

17. This then I say, and bear witness in the Lord
    that no-longer you should walk in the way the Gentiles walk
          in the futility of their minds
18.       darkened in their understanding
          alienated from the life of God
                because of the ignorance that is in them
                because of the hardness of their heart
19.       who have become callous
                giving themselves over to indecency
                for the practice of every kind of impurity in greediness
20. but you have not so learned Christ
21.       in as much as you heard
          and in him you were taught
          even as the truth is in Jesus

Old and New Creation

22. to put off according to your previous way of life, the old man
          which is being corrupted according to deceitful desires
23. to be renewed in the spirit of your minds
24. and to put on the new man
          created according to God in righteousness and true holiness.

Walking in Love

25. Therefore having put off falsehood
          let each one of you speak the truth with his neighbour,
                for we are members one of another.
26. Be angry and do not sin;
          do not let the sun go down on your anger
27.             Do not give an opportunity to the devil.
28. Let the stealer steal no longer;
          rather let him labour, doing honest work with his own hands
                that he may have something to share with anyone in need
29. Let no corrupting talk leave your mouths,
          but only what is good for building up the person who needs it,
                that it may give grace to those who hear.
30. And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God,
          in whom you were sealed
                for the day of redemption.
31. Let all bitterness and rage and anger and shouting and slander be put away from you, along with all malice.
32.       Become kind to one another, tenderhearted, showing grace to one another,
                just as God in Christ showed grace to you
     
1. Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children.
2. And walk in love, just as Christ loved us
         and gave himself up for us, an offering and sacrifice to God for a fragrant aroma.
