Managing your Time

The goal is to learn how we can use our time
more effectively
to achieve the purpose
for which God has put us here.

  1. What to do (3 points)
  2. How to get it done (3. points)

Psalm 90:12

“So teach us to number our days that we may get a heart of wisdom.” ESV

1. The Important vs the Urgent

“Look carefully then how you walk,
not as unwise but as wise,
making the best use of the time,
because the days are evil.

Therefore do not be foolish,
but understand what the will of the Lord is.”

(Eph 5:15–17 ESV)

    A “trusted system”

Ecclesiastes 3:1–8

For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven: a time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted; a time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; a time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance; a time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing; ESV

    A “trusted system”

“Walk in wisdom toward outsiders, making the best use of the time” Col 4:5

B. How to get it done

  1. Have one place where you record everything you have to do
    A “trusted system”
  2. Pray about the order, and write a list for the day
  3. Don’t change the order!

James 4:13–17

Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go into such and such a town and spend a year there and trade and make a profit”— yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes. Instead you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we will live and do this or that.” ESV
