Ezekiel 28

  1. Son of man, say to the prince of Tyre, This is what the sovereign LORD says:
    ‘Your heart is proud and you said, “I am a god;
    I sit in the seat of gods, in the heart of the seas”—
    yet you are a man and not a god,
    though you think you are godlike…
  2. By your wisdom and understanding you have gained wealth for yourself;
    you have amassed gold and silver in your treasuries.
  3. By your great skill in trade you have increased your wealth,
    and your heart is proud because of your wealth.

Ezekiel 28 v6–10

  1. ‘Therefore this is what the sovereign LORD says:
    Because you think you are godlike,
  2. I am about to bring foreigners against you, the most terrifying of nations.
    They will draw their swords against the grandeur made by your wisdom, and they will defile your splendor.
  3. They will bring you down to the pit, and you will die violently in the heart of the seas.
  4. Will you still say, “I am a god,” before the one who kills you —though you are a man and not a god—
    when you are in the power of those who wound you?
  5. You will die the death of the uncircumcised by the hand of foreigners;
    for I have spoken, declares the sovereign LORD.’

Nahum 3

  1. Woe to the city guilty of bloodshed!
    She is full of lies;
    she is filled with plunder;

1:1 The oracle against Nineveh—the book of the vision of Nahum the Elkoshite:

  • 1:8 But with an overwhelming flood
    he will make a complete end of Nineveh;
    he will drive his enemies into darkness.
  • 1:10 Surely they will be totally consumed
    like entangled thorn bushes,
    like the drink of drunkards,
    like very dry stubble.
  • 2:6 The sluice gates are opened;
    the royal palace is deluged and dissolves.
  • 2:8 Nineveh was like a pool of water throughout her days,
    but now her people are running away;
    she cries out: “Stop! Stop!” – but no one turns back.
  • 3:13 Your warriors will be like women in your midst;
    the gates of your land will be wide open to your enemies;
    fire will consume the bars of your gates.

Three responses

  1. If you are not prepared for Jesus’ return, you need to be, because it is sure!
    • The offer is open and free
  2. If you are not a Christian, be prepared!
  1. Do you ever say “where is God?” “Why does he not answer my prayers?”
    • This is a great encouragement to us
